The holidays have been a lot better for me than I had thought. I miss my mother but not to the extent that I would have thought. It's just that I sometimes think of something she would have liked and smile and wish she were here to see it.

I often feel uncomfortable around holidays, specifically those that have religious connotations. I'm pretty much what you would call an apathetic agnostic and I sometimes feel like a hypocrite participating in events. But I do like spending time with my family so I just have to accept it.
