More on VOTD

I was thinking specifically about the "Stowaway". I think there were some who had certain expectations about how the song would be used in the episode based on the lyrics and were disappointed. The thing is, I never really thought it would have much importance in the episode itself so I don't really think of it as a missed opportunity.

I think that the songs are meant to express the Doctor's mindset over the course of the following season. The message is to the audience rather than the Doctor. I think that both "Song for Ten" and "Love Don't Roam" do a very good job of this in the context of their respective episodes. "The Stowaway" doesn't do the job as well but I think it was still written with that intended purpose.
