I Wonder If This Counts As A Fetish?

Ive been looking back over some of my past OTPs and it seems that I have an affinity for human/alien relationships (given that I mostly enjoy science-fiction this actually understandable). What a fascinating bit of personal trivia.

And related note (just by being sci-fi) Greg Grunberg was the voice that was yelling at young!Kirk in the car. Considering the movie was a J.J. Abrams project, this can hardly be considered surprising.

comments

Star Trek Squee

Just got back from seeing Star Trek. It's been a long time since a movie had me leaving the theatre with a cheese-tastic grin on my face. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I did, however, spend a lot of the movie dealing with a fidgety six year old with a lot of questions. Loved the movie though. I was surprised and pleased by a lot of things in it.

comments

The Author Did Not Get It Wrong...

I have a belief which maybe sound weird considering how much I enjoy fanfiction. One thing that see often icons and essays that essentially say "the author got wrong". That both annoys and angers me. A person cannot get their own story wrong. There can be plot holes and other problems but just because a writer ends a story in a way that differs from what a reader wanted or expected doesn't mean they got it wrong. I've read lots of books and seen lots of movies and television shows that I would have done differently but I don't ever think that the writers were wrong. I understand that everyone has a different way of seeing a work and I know it looks different from the outside than it does from the inside. And I'm going to stop now because it's nearly four and I'm tired.

comments

So, Obviously I Need To Go See Star Trek

Funny thing: I love Star Trek. Mostly TNG but there are bits of TOS that I love and DS9 is usually something I enjoy (Voyager I enjoyed for years before, well, it sucked too much for me to watch it and I never got into Enterprise). I read the books, saw the movies, read the comics (Marvel, DC and IDW). I'd been worried about going to see the new movie not because it's different (I love different interpretations) but I because I've been burned before (glares at JJ). But...I no longer care about that. I've seen too many people squee about it and it's completely infectious.

comments

I Have No Life Whatsoever...

I've gotten some word about two possible jobs so that's good (one full-time one part and it's likely that I could do both at the same time so that's good).

I'm contemplating whether or not to go see Star Trek. Trailers make it look very shiny. I just don't know though. JJ has burned me before.

comments

First Dreamwidth Post

I can has Dreamwidth account and already it sucks less than LJ since I can actually post to it and read other people's journals (which I haven't been able to do on LJ for some weird reason).
Went to see the Wolverine movie because my six year old nephew wanted to (not entirely age appropriate but hell, he used to watch Torchwood with me so I can't really say anything). Let's just say it wasn't my favourite movie but it did have a few pluses, namely Gambit and Wade. But next time we go to the movies, I get to pick because my comic book loving self had fits.

Also, Wolverine? The character still tops my "Most Hated Fictional Characters" list. In fact, he inspired the list.

comments
