A Revelation

I've discovered that I actually like Elliot Smith.

Why do people have to be dead before I realise that I like them?

Elliott=love

Sorry you had to come to him late- personally, I was planning a roadtrip cross-country to see him when I got the news of his suicide. Made me very, very sad... Anyway, let me know if there's anything of his that you're looking for- I've got a metric fuck-ton of Elliott's music, both released and unreleased. :)

I need to do a litte more research, i.e. track down everything he's ever done and listen to it in chronological order (I refuse to do believe that this is at all obsessive).

He just has a really great voice.

HIs lyrics are what blows me away- that ability to sing about obviously personal things, and have them feel so universal. (Though I love his voice, too)

For Elliott!research, I'd suggest http://www.sweetadeline.net and http://www.elliottsmithbsides.com. You won't find any of his released material there (people don't typically post any of his copyrighted material), but you can get his discography there, as well as oodles of unreleased or live recordings. And believe me, a lot of his unreleased material is every bit as strong as the songs that did end up on his albums.

Also, for live recordings and some video as well, check out http://www.trashtreasury.com and http://www.junkbondtrader.net.

Wheee! Elliott!love!!
