On Hagrid

I was wondering something (I do this a lot, by the way). It seems that a lot of people seem to be of the opinion that Hagrid is going to die. The problem with this is, that the same thing was predicted for OotP and it turned out not to be true. there were a large number of people who seemed to think this ( as eviddenced in this poll on the Sugarquill http://www.sugarquill.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=5406). So this makes me think that a lot of this comes from people projecting their own wants into the story. I know it's strange, but it never occurred to me that Hagrid would be the one who died. I do admit it was mostly because of this http://www.livejournal.com/users/minisinoo/92968.html article (sidenote: if you are into X-men, I suggest you read Min, she's wonderful). It's perfectly reasonable to think that Hagrid might die at some point between now and the end, but like I do wonder, is this really a prediction or just wishful thinking?

Wishful thinking? No, I don't think it's that, at least with some people. He's a character whose death would make people sad but wouldn't break people's hearts (like Sirius' did). Nobody wants to predict a heart breaking death, but they don't want to go 'skimpy' on the matter either. So they choose Hagrid, who is kind of inbetween. I don't think Hagrid's going to die in Book 6. Maybe in Book 7, but then again maybe not. He's certainly not the next to go.
