And just as invariably I end up sick to my stomach with the amount wank, vitrol and sheer stupidity that goes on.
I've practically dropped out of my anime/manga fandoms because of the fans. They take everything about the series and drive it into the ground. Naruto's is probably the worst where this is concerned, and they wank over the dumbest things! Who cares which generation fan you're considered? We all enjoy/enjoyed the series, don't we? House's fandom has succeeded in annoying the crap out of me with their stupid 'ship wars.
What's sad is that someone else on my List just got into DW and I was telling her about how great the fandom's been. They can debate opposing viewpoints without it spiraling into childish "Well, I'm right because I said so!" baloney. ::sigh:: "Girl ..." airs and what does the fandom do? Just that. I was dumbstruck at how the comm erupted last week over the Sarah Jane deal, and who does/did the Doctor luv?
I'll admit I expected a lot more from this episode because I did enjoy his two from last series so much, so I'm disappointed despite the fact that I really wasn't interest in the ep in the first place.
Some are blaming the 45 minute time limit on it not being as good. That's BS, because they've done excellent television - for countless shows - within a 45 minute time limit. When the script is an incoherent bumbling mess from the start, you can't blame time constraints for it being crap. Maybe if they'd chosen a different guest actress for the Madame role, because I'm highly against couples playing off of each other like this. You're never sure if it's them or the character reacting in a certain way. As I mentioned before, I'm damn sure that was Sophia and David on the screen for most of that episode, not Reinette and the Doctor.
(As a sidenote, I'm tired of the episodes taking place somewhere on earth or when it's out in space, being directly LINKED to Earth. Y'all forget what the "S" in TARDIS stands for?! It happened a lot last series, but I was willing to forgive it. I want to see the Doctor on an alien planet, dealing with an alien lifeform, for the love of Mike!)
