4x02: The Fires of Pompeii Reaction

Well, that was mix of silly and heartbreaking wasn't it. The family was a bit silly but mostly nice. Could have done without some or sillier bits. Did they really need to do the statue saving bit more than once?

We have the second mention this series of a planet being lost or destroyed. Also another mention of the Shadow Proclamation (mentioned several times in previous years). So, something is going on here. If there's about a "lost" planet next week I'm calling it a pattern. Maybe this was what they were talking about in DWM (the "Bad Wolf" of the year not being a specific word).

I liked the scene in the escape pod very much. Destroy the world or destroy a city. Destroy a part to save the whole. I thought the scenes after the eruption starts are the best (well the tag at the end was a little silly). And I liked that she convinced him to go back. I know it's just one family and not the whole city, but it does make things seem a little better.

I'm not sure how I feel about them being the "household gods". I really am tired of the Doctor as a god but I felt a little less annoyed because the TARDIS and Donna got to be gods too.

Yeah, that was a bit overdone.

Yes, definitely. I think it's a really interesting concept, so I hope they continue on with it.

I felt that the episode would have been just fine without that tag at the end. It felt a bit forced. I would have loved for the episode to just end with the Doctor and Donna in the TARDIS. Oh well! :) I still really loved this episode. DT and CT were amazing. :D
