My First Comic Book

Discussing the trailer for the new Wolverine movie brought about thoughts of my love of comic books. And this made me think about my first comic. Or rather, the first comic I ever read (the first comic book I ever owned is a completely different story). It was summer and I was nine. I was visiting my grandmother and she was getting ready to pick my uncle up from work. I needed something to read (I'd gotten into the habit of reading the year before) and I couldn't find a novel I was interested in. Then I saw this:

An old comic that my uncle had laying around. It made me think "Ooohhh, that looks interesting" so I picked it up. And I loved. I immediately wanted to know more about these people and what they could do. So I went through all of the comics my uncle had. And I found others to like. Not just the Fantastic Four, but Spider-Man and X-Men and even some DC friends like the Blue Beetle and Booster Gold (because I'm that person in case you wondered).

Comics are what got me onto the internet and the X-Men were the first fandom that I was even peripherally involved in. I still love them and even though the habit can be kind of expensive (and space consuming). I've never regretted a dime I've spent on a single comic (except for parts of Grant Morrison's X-Men run but we shan't speak of that).

my first was X Men #1 from 1991 I think. I got it a bit later though.
