Not something I talk a lot about, but I really do love comic books. So, I've decided to talk about them a bit more. And I decided to start with Magneto: Testament since it left an impression on me. No spoilers beyond the setting and Magneto's background.
( Not long but it just seems considerate to cut this )
Over all I enjoyed the book, however, I have to say that each issue left me with a "I really hate humans" feeling after I'd finished (quite apropos, really).

I'm sitting in a computer lab getting ready to leave for class when suddenly I realise that in all of my comic book reading history, the original "New Mutants" were the only team where I really liked every body (next is the original X-Men but I never actually like all of them at the same time).
As a self-described geek there have been some things that I've always felt but never wanted to admit, should I loose some of my geek cred. But I thought, what the hell, why not come clean?
1. I have never enjoyed any of the Star Wars films. I want to. I really truly wish that I liked them because part of me thinks I should, but I just can never get into them.
2. Futurama is better than Simpsons. 'nuff said.
3. Despite being a girl and huge comic book fan, I hate Wonder Woman. Maybe hate is a strong term but I've never really liked her.
4. I enjoyed Superman Returns waaaaaay more than Batman Begins (corallary: I have no interest in ever seeing "The Dark Knight").
5. I've never been able to get into The Watchmen (and I'm someone who generally likes Alan Moore).
6. The Dark Knight Returns was boring and frankly off puting. I'm not a fan of Frank Miller at all.

I'm sitting in an unheated room in subfreezing weather looking at Powers Volumes 2-8 trade paperbacks. Volume 1 is nowhere to be found.

I read comic books. I love superheroes and villians and crime stories and Warren Ellis and Brian K. Vaughan and all that jazz, but at the moment, two of my favorite comics being produced are Marvel Romance Redux (takes old romance comics and gives it new dialogue) and Franklin Richards: Son of A Genius (think Calvin and Hobbes with a superpowered family and a robot nanny). Thank you Marvel, I haven't laughed so much in a long time.
