Mostly because Hamlet ends up dead. Is they a more annoying, obnoxious, whiny little bitch in all of literature? I think not.

And I'm just looking over your headings when I see this one. And AMEN! I hate Hamlet...the play and the character. And I like me some Shakespeare...totally love Othello. But Hamlet...NO! I know it contains some of the most quoted lines ever...and I even understand the fascination for an actor as he tries to make it all seem fresh and explores the depths of his own twisted psychology...but really...what a dog of a story and what a really annoying whining character.
