This is something that bothers me in general but I come across it more often while reading than in real life so, here goes.
It annoys me when someone refers someone as "only a friend" or say "we're just friends". I don't think friends should be considered "just" anything. A real friend is someone who will stick by you and love you even when you're being a complete idiot. A friend is the person who will help you bury the bodies (as the saying goes). Friendship shouldn't not be treated as if it is a second-rate relationship. Being someone's friend isn't inferior to being their lover, it's different from being their lover. While romantic love is important, so is platonic love and neither should be placed above the other.
